I love free healthy food! So when I saw the coupon in the local weekly paper for a free sandwich at UFood Grill, I was excited to try it out!
I and a friend went there together, and it was a little difficult to find but we finally spotted it. We were both impressed to see the digital menu as we came in–I’ve never seen one before and it was pretty cool. We ended up deciding to order our free sandwiches and then each get a side and share them. I got the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich with un-fries (they are like french fries, except they’re baked instead of fried) and my friend got a Turkey Burger and the Sweet Potato Mash.
My sandwich was really tasty, the sauce was excellent and I liked the ciabatta bread that it came on. My only complaint would be that it was a little small for the price (or what the price would have been if I hadn’t had a coupon) of $6.29. I suppose it may be because, according to their website, they serve “Natural and organic ingredients whenever possible”. I know organic is always more expensive, for good reason. The calories were about 500, also a little high for the size but considering the sauce and cheese I wasn’t surprised.
I was really impressed with the un-fries. If I hadn’t known that they were baked I wouldn’t have guessed it. Yummy at 225 calories per serving. The sweet potatoes were pretty good too, although not as sweet as I had expected. But then again for just 115 calories, I should have known that there wouldn’t be much sugar.
I’ll probably eat there again if I’m in the area–it’s a little out of the way for me. But if there’s another free sandwich in it for me, I’m there!
